Working with you so far
Since 2019, we’ve been talking and listening to you to find out what matters to you – what you like, what could be better, and what ideas you have for your community. Throughout 2021 we carried out consultation with you and more than 2000 surveys were completed. We also met with you at the end of 2022 to hear your views directly – thank you to everyone who gave their input.
With your feedback, we created a new and improved design from what we showed you during the Public Exhibition, with as many of the things you want as possible – something that truly everyone will benefit from in some way. We’re now in the process of submitting our outline planning application to Breckland Council to show them what, with your input, we plan to do.

The Abbey story
A design for the Abbey: Exhibition events
Since 2019, we’ve been speaking to you about your community. You’ve been telling us what matters to you on the Abbey – what you like, and what could be better. You’ve also told us what improvements you would like to see for your community.
Based on your feedback, and the work we’ve carried out to understand your area, we’ve come up with a design that will bring improvements for the Abbey.
This design captures as many of the things that you want as possible – we have always wanted to unite and not divide the community through any improvements, and to make sure that you’re at the centre of the design for the Abbey.
In November and December 2022, we hosted a range of events and community 121s in the community to talk to you about the design for the Abbey and answer your questions. Thank you so much for joining us at those events and for your input.
Around these events, we exhibited our design for the Abbey – places and our vision for new and existing homes, parking solutions, ways to get around, play spaces, back greens, and neighbourhood centres and parks – all developed through your feedback to create a design for the Abbey that will benefit your community now, and for generations to come.
Timeline so far

Our promise and support for Abbey residents
Whether you’re a homeowner, a Samphire Homes tenant, a private tenant, or a landlord, we have meaningfully consulted with you so that we understand what matters to you. We promise to keep on listening to your views in the months and years to come; whatever we do on the Abbey will be shaped with your feedback, and we promise to continue engaging and consulting with you throughout the regeneration process.
We’re now in the process of submitting an online planning application to Breckland Council based on the design we showed you at the Public Exhibition, which will give a general idea as to what we want to do. This can take up to a year to be approved, but if successful will give us the go ahead to do something on the Abbey.
Our aim is to bring long-term improvements to the Abbey that tackle the issues that you have told us about in our conversations.
