Cutting edge, eco -friendly homes to go on show at new Norfolk site

New homes at Crown View in Great Ellingham, Norfolk

The first of 60 homes at a cutting-edge affordable housing development in Norfolk are being completed.

The team behind the site, called Crown View, hope it will become a blueprint for future developments thanks to the advanced and eco-friendly construction methods used.

Off Attleborough Road in Great Ellingham, the homes are being built by Flagship Homes – part of Flagship Group – in partnership with Lovell and with funding from Homes England.

Amanda Crichton, head of sales and marketing at Flagship Homes, said: “It has been a joy to watch the homes at Crown View take shape - the show home is looking fantastic and the interest from prospective purchasers we have already received is a testament to the popularity of the homes in the marketplace.”

“Each one will represent a fresh chapter for a family, and together they will form a vibrant neighbourhood to add to the community in Great Ellingham.

“We’re excited to start welcoming members of the public to Crown View to see it for themselves.”

The homes at Crown View have been built using Modern Methods of Construction (MMC).

Crown View includes 30 homes for affordable rent, which will be allocated to families on local council waiting lists. They will be let by Flagship’s housing association, Samphire, at roughly 80% of market value.

The other 30 homes will be for Shared Ownership – a hybrid of buying and renting which allows people to get onto the housing ladder without a large deposit.

Crown View is being built using Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), meaning walls, roofs and other components are built in a factory before assembly on site, making for quicker build times with less environmental impact.

The homes will be powered by air source heat pumps and solar panels.

Great Ellingham is close to the A11, giving it an excellent connection to Norwich, Thetford, Cambridge and beyond.

Members of the public will be able to visit the site’s show home at the site on a launch day on Friday, August 16 from 10am-2pm. No appointment is necessary, the address is: 2 Rush Meadow, Great Ellingham, NR17 1ZP.

Crown View has been shortlisted in the 'best shared ownership development' category at the Inside Housing Development Awards. Winners of the awards will be announced on September 27.

All homes are due to be finished by spring next year.
